What's Buzz-worthy: Prestige is typically an early season brand that I open a lot of as it's got a college draft picks element to it along with veterans in their pro unis but with a little more clean or upscale/non-beginner look than that of, say, Score. This time? It's a definite departure looks-wise from some past years here -- it's an upgrade -- and this look is one that really carries a look that could/should be found at the Immaculate or Flawless level. It's cleeeeeaaannnn. The set is a little bigger than just a couple years ago with 300 base cards and then 90 rookies and 10 more short-print rookies atop that. The insert lineup is relatively standard here and they can make or break a pack and in this case there were a couple highlight names to keep it respectable but perhaps not at an A-level this time on their own. (My base crop could have been better for sure but that's the larger base set for you.) The look is good here but in this format I think packs feel a little flat -- but the feel here is smooth and elegant enough with that foil look on the base where I will likely dabble with some kind of larger format after this intentionally smaller taste test. (Can't collect and rip it all.) This one surprised me so I will rip more of it again at some point.
