What's Buzz-worthy: USA Baseball staff used to be a quick and easy go-to on the cheap for me and it still could be with blasters like these where they are loaded with a couple of hits every time and plenty of first-time cards and autos that could pay off later. This one? A perfect example of that as Velazquez is headed to USC to play this year after finishing a prep career ranked as Perfect Game's fifth-best SS in California -- and there were a lot of them there. (He's not expensive  right now but there could be reasons for his stuff to move later.) These smaller boxes are more limiting merely with that size -- it's essentially just base, parallels and hits -- but it feels a little leaner here than the mega I opened before. Those have more volume and a little more hit action ... aka more chances to find key names. This one had a Jac Caglianone and a few others inside for base but felt a little lean on that front. My mem card is of a fourth-round pick of the Astros who had a decent MiLB season per a check of the stats. One oddity? My auto is in green ink this time though there was no announced parallel there. All in all, this delivered as it should and with the set being seriously deep into the prospect ranks for younger squads we could see names pop up from this one literally years from now. It has members of the USA Baseball 13U and 14U Athlete Development Program and if early scouting isn't your thing, then you can also find new MLB Draft selections here, too. (Per USA Baseball, 17 first-rounders in this were past players and they've had more than 600 first-rounders since 1972.) The base set is deeper -- twice the size of last time -- and that means this is a simple way to load up for later.

Product Grade: A (more depth than ever, early cards for many)
Box Grade:
A- (this one delivered as it should and my ink seems like it could have potential)
Fun Grade: B (I prefer the mega boxes over these ... and probably other formats had I ripped them)
