What's Buzz-worthy: This third pack of mine is remarkably similar to the first for the base cards -- not a good sign and it reinforces some forum chatter about collation being streaky or downright bad in some instances on larger breaks -- but overall this pack was still above average with the Judge and Holliday appearances among other names. ... The foilboard effect is back on every single card but instead of going dark on the borders it's a mash-up of 1982, 1984 and 2019 with a light modern look this time around. Does it work? Yes. I intentionally opted for three of these hangers as my first taste of this one -- I'm not sure I'm in on a hobby box at its prices as a matter of need -- and it was more agreeable than I thought it might be. The new Diamante parallels bring some funk -- they're different and I don't mind them when I landed a Judge this time. The lineup of what's in these packs is ultimately the same as last year with the Stars Of MLB cards once again carrying more retail weight here -- definitely still needs more variety in this format. ... The 1990 cards are the home to some good ink and some rarer chases -- some Frank Thomas NNOF homages that are rare -- but I opted for the smaller format where that stuff is less likely to be found. If you like what you see, rip into jumbo for your best results and a guaranteed autograph and Relic and maybe more. I might dabble with a second retail format if it presents itself but, for now, the smaller bites are all I need for this one. I'll likely do a few more small breaks for this one until other options present themselves out in the retail wild.
Product Grade: A-
Box Grade: A- (Holiday and Judge helped here among others)
Fun Grade: B (still needs more variety here on a pack-to-pack basis ... and collation may be repetitive)
