What's Buzz-worthy: I revisited my discount spot to see what the comics repack realm had in store and this one popped up for the first time in about a year -- probably a straggler of the IDW repacks that popped up last year but not in a new wave now. (DC is the main newer item these days and you'll see some more to come here at some point.) These can be a bit repetitive or basically the same book to book depending on what's showing but this one, a GLOW front, actually included mostly books I hadn't seem here ... though the titles are familiar. This time there was just one variant cover -- kind of a non-factor here but not the norm as I've seen as many as six or seven but often two or three. They might add some value or at least some appeal with typically those having deluxe covers that might make them slabbing candidates on the cheap. This time? Some Marvel kids stuff (handled by IDW) and a few properties that have had TV shows or films with really only one traditional D.C. title issue in the mix, Batman. ... Even if you get a lesser one here, the value is pretty solid as the cost was literal pocket change for each book and these are clearly publisher leftovers that had minimal handling before they were put into these packs. A couple of simple things got me to bite here -- the volume/price and that some premium books seemed to be popping up from these and others that I found at an Ollie's store ... a place that seems to routinely have repacks and a lot of past graphic novels from all publishers as part of their outlet burn-offs. (It's a regional chain so you may not have heard of it ... and they occasionally have good runs of toys, too, if you're a hunter/flipper.) Why dabble? These kinds of packs can sometimes age well -- a character might emerge as important later -- and the cost is minimal unlike grabbing at a comics shop at cover prices.
Product Grade: A- (it is what it is ... a new-issue grab bag)
Pack Grade: C (pretty standard but fewer variants than normal)
Fun Grade: B- (see above)
