Buzz Goes Gaming: Star Wars Rivals EGS Premier Set (Funko)
This entry was posted on August 15, 2025
.This new department will be an occasional series that will take a quick look at a game our gaming release with card elements -- essentially a breakdown of what's in a box, but not the typical kind of a Buzz Break. (Buzz isn't a gamer so this will just be what's in a box vs. gameplay analysis.) Maybe there's a box you'd want to see busted? Send Buzz an email at BlowoutBuzz@blowoutcards.com.

What's Buzz-worthy: This is one of countless Star Wars options out there for fans but it's one that meshes cards and figures -- albeit really small ones -- into one where you can chase 'em down in packs that include some of both. There are 30 figures in all, so this one wouldn't be an easily collected project -- but that's also not on my radar as I'm just a one-time dabbler here on the cheap (well under $10 here) to see what the cards look like. Most cards here -- though not absolutely all of them thanks to black borders -- are crisp and clean and would make for some oddball fun slabbing for iconic characters (that might get me ... I like odd) on the cheap. The booster packs are character specific so you get a figure and cards (i.e. all Princess Leia or whomever) with your blind box buy once you open them. That's quite a project to collect it all ... one more reason I'm just a dabbler here. The lineup of characters is solid -- big names from the original Star Wars core and then some notables from newer years ... and that's just the first series. There was a second wave that arrived last year and after some apparent issues with distribution with big-box stores/online and then changes to that ... and then an ownership change that led the line to be shelved. That pretty much means you're going to have to hunt on eBay more than anywhere else to land any one you might like. I like the feel of these and there are a couple of characters I might add if they presented themselves ... but there's a lot of Star Wars stuff out in the world competing with them, too.
Product Grade: A-
Box Grade: A (cards are crisp and clean)
Fun Grade: B+ (feel like these starters could have been slightly larger though that would raise the price point)
