BuzzMania 7: Chrome vs. Chrome Mismatch, Right? (Hour 5)

The biggest weekend in pro wrestling is here with WrestleMania 40 set for this Saturday and Sunday from Philadelphia. We'll make today a big one for wrestling collectors right here on The Buzz with #BuzzMania7, a marathon of WWE wax box/pack breaks all day long.

This one is admittedly a mismatch -- a retail option vs. an international gaming release that's a big one with big potential ... but they're both Chrome and that makes it a rumble here today. Why? ... Why not?

The Brands: 2021 Topps WWE Slam Attax Chrome (hobby box) vs. 2015 Topps Chrome WWE (three retail value packs)

The Hits (Autographs/Memorabilia/Manufactured Relic) Breakdown: None ... a bummer but not really a bummer after some of those key finds above.

My Take Before I Broke This: You know those matches that seem to get thrown together at the last minute and turn out to be pretty decent on the big show even though we've already seen them before already? That's this ... a box of Slam Attax I had left over from holiday sales months bought for a little less than the still-cheap price of now -- a good price as there's plenty of color in every box with autos in play just not every time -- and then a trio of retail packs I found for a relative cheap price (vs. what they had been going for) as part of a small lot. (That lot was steal-priced making this rip a no-brainer.)

Who Won The Battle? Slam Attax should win this one ... and it did with good names in key spots among the color and with its near-spotless production, too. But one card in Topps Chrome was a monster this time ... keep reading.

The Top Rookies: See below. There are a lot of good names in 2015 -- so many I bought tons of it and its flagship counterpart though the years -- but all of them eluded me save for one in this small batch ... but this one is a biggie.

--

Card That Stole The Show: This "first NXT card" is just that, but since the checklist put the NXT kids into the main set for this release (but not in flagship) that also makes this, by definition, an Alexa Bliss Rookie Card ... and it's a Refractor of her, too, which isn't often found centered. The last time I found one, well, this happened. I like -- really like -- the looks of this one, so it will be going to CGC at some time in the coming months probably along with some of the color also found in this hour's stuff.

Lot Grade: A+ ... That Bliss, that Cena, that Reigns ... those are big but there's a lot to like in both of these.
Fun Grade: A ... Topps Chrome actually could have been better as there's a lot to find there ... and yet this was still strong thanks to that card and some stars.

--

The Bottom Line: There's no need to sweat hits when the color flows well for key names ... but that doesn't always happen. This time, I won with both products -- but I still like guaranteed hits.
