Buzz's BlowoutTV Breakdown: 2020 Topps Allen & Ginter

Group breaks have been a game-changer for the card industry for several years now and from time to time Buzz will jump into a BlowoutTV break of some type and break down the results of what he landed by picking up a team. There are near-daily breaks right here with Matt on Blowout TV during weekday working hours and even more from Houdini and others over on the forum in the evening.

Now, it's time for this post's break breakdown -- two spots in a pair 2020 Topps Allen & Ginter cases.

INSIDE THE BREAK ...
The Product:
2020 Topps Allen & Ginter baseball cards
The Breakdown: 12 24-pack boxes per case (three hits per box ... so 72 in this break)
The Price: Under $100 (less than a box) for two teams in two cases (one team per case)
The Teams Buzz Landed: Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies (via random)
Grab Your Own Box: 2020 Topps Allen & Ginter

Final Thoughts: I landed almost 30 different players here and most are stars or Hall of Famers, so the volume isn't bad since most would have collector interest. The lone hit isn't the most-exciting card at all, but the Mookie Betts no-number card has actually sold for as much as $45 and that makes me feel better about the finds here. The Gavin Lux presence is all there is for RCs and I landed a Hot Box version of his card, too, which made the results feel better. The Dodgers volume here was surprising in comparison to the Phillies given this is a case's worth of boxes for each team -- the one Hot Box per case yielded bunch of Dodgers (dupes even) while the Phillies barely registered in the other case. It's quite possible for teams to land even more than this as the box-toppers were their own spot in this break and that would include the various jumbo cards as well as jumbo rips. There have been reports of some odds-defying overloaded cases in this release, too, which could make breaks or even just box/case purchases a lot more interesting than the three-hits-per-box formula. If this one were to be offered again via BlowoutTV I'd probably be in ... because there are some solid possibilities. This one is pretty strong but it can be topped. A safer bet would be to grab the hobby box. If you can find a break where MLB teams get toppers, too, or one where the non-baseball spot all goes to one person (it was split here) those are even better. All in all, this one delivered well.

Product Grade: A-
Break Grade:
A- (nothing super-flashy but solid with volume -- Betts card gets it to a barely A grade here)
