DON'T CALL HIM A SLEEPER, BUT ...
The Card: Josh Jacobs 2019 Donruss Elite NFL Pen Pals (or any ink)
The Price: $118.51 for this one (/25)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This guy shouldn't be seen as a sleeper but he might be compared to some of the first-rounders' autos out there -- and he's my pick for a player with potential this season. Why? A few reasons. First, the OakVegas Raiders were a trainwreck last year so somebody has to matter when it comes to cardboard this year -- and it can't be the coach. There are star players there but they've had injuries, baggage and there's no guarantee they won't be traded off somewhere for a box of rocks (OK, OK, draft picks) at any time. A look at Jacobs' college stats probably won't tell the story, either, as he ultimately only had a breakout year last season despite playing three for Nick Saban at Alabama. He had 120 carries for 640 yard last season but scored 11 TDs. He also added 20 catches for 247 and three TDs. His other two seasons top those for yardage but not much else. He was the first RB taken in this year's NFL Draft at 24th overall so there could be one reason for attention for his cards. One more that's still to come? The Raiders are the team for this year's Hard Knocks series in HBO that kicks off on Aug. 6. That has helped guys' cards in the past -- well at least ones who don't have a ton of card appearances. (He's not that guy this time -- already over 400 different.) His cards are worth a look when they're on the cheap side.

SPELLBOUND MAYFIELDS
The Card:
Baker Mayfield 2019 Donruss Elite NFL Spellbound inserts (any)
The Price:
Varies depending on parallel
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This isn't a new inclusion for this brand at all but the look of this one caught my eye for some reason this year more than others. The idea? Spell the name with each letter of the player's name the focus of x-number of unique cards for each guy. For Mayfield, there are eight letters in his last name, meanwhile you can find at least nine parallels of each card. There's the normal version (/299), then Black (1/1), Blue (/10), Gold (/5), Green (retail), Orange (/25), Pink (retail), Purple (/75) and Red (/99) parallels. He won't be the cheapest of the players out there as he's one of the top sophomores, so perhaps waiting some chasing these could help you price-wise. But at the same time there aren't a lot of super-easy versions to find here. Doing the full a name for all colors is probably impossible, but some can pay off. The standard name you see here sold on eBay for $149.50.

NOT THE BIG MOJO HITS
The Card: Kyler Murray 2019 Donruss Elite NFL Rookie Cards and parallels
The Price: Varies depending on version
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: The autographs are pricey but I'm more on the fence than sold with the No. 1 overall pick out of Oklahoma when it comes to the NFL. But ... scroll up and consider where the previous guy played and what he did last year. I think there could be more upward movement for Murray's standard cards if he has a good year or even if he has an up-and-down campaign. He has close to 20 different versions of card No. 106 here with the standard one limited to 699. Only three are not numbered but at least two of them are retail so they may not be as plentiful as you might think on the secondary market as people rip plenty of hobby boxes in more volume than retail. (And blasters, for example, will only include one Green rookie per box in most situations.) He generally won't be all that cheap for a basic card but his ink will be getting a lot more looks ... so I'd be looking where many may not be (or at least not as much) for now.

NEED A LAUGH?
The Card:
Pat McAfee 2019 Donruss Elite Dual Threats Purple (/75)
The Price: $24.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
I'm not sure what's more entertaining here -- his inclusion in the Dual Threats set or the prices being paid for cards of this former punter-turned-broadcaster-turned-chatterbox for WWE. He played eight seasons in the NFL -- as a punter -- and completed one of two passes for 35 yards. That's what gets him here. If Panini ever makes a Triple Threats set, he's got 10 combined tackles and a fumble recovery on the ol' career stat sheet, too. McAfee hasn't cracked the 100-card mark yet and only had about 30 cards made during his playing career, but if they keep selling ... then we'll probably keep seeing them. (He doesn't yet have any WWE cards, by the way.)

FOR FANS OF PHOTOGRAPHY
The Card:
2019 Donruss Elite NFL Field Vision inserts
The Price:
Varies depending on player/parallel
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This simple 10-card set includes some big names and unique views as seen from the field. On the checklist? Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Andrew Luck, Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Donald, Dak Prescott, Harrison Smith, Baker Mayfield, Saquon Barkley and Khalil Mack. There are 10 different versions to find (see: Spellbound), including an autographed set. All but Barkley have auto cards here but the biggest names are limited to only five copies. The rest are limited to just 10 with exception of Smith who has 25. Collecting the auto set might be close to impossible, but doing a player's parallels or just basics could be a fun challenge that's do-able (or at least closer to it).

INTERESTING INSERTS
The Card:
Patrick Mahomes 2019 Donruss Elite NFL Title Waves Gold (/10)
The Price: $20 opening bid (less than day remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This card jumped out at me with its look, colors, scarcity and player, but I think the simple touch that this card has that made me appreciate it the most is that it notes the title that this player's team grabbed last year -- a reflection of something that happened on the field not just a generic insert set with an alliterative name. This brand has a lot of inserts with etched foil, embossing and foilboard and another that I liked was the Star Status set. It, too, is worth a look. Title Waves is a smaller 15-card set with just two sets of parallels (1/1 Black and these Golds), while Star Status has the full rainbow like others mentioned here.
