You should always consider details of storage when it comes to your sports cards & memorabilia
Do you consider the details when it comes to the storage of your sports cards and memorabilia? You should.
We probably all have a closet or a card room we frequent often, but there may be nooks and crannies we don't check often -- sometimes for months in a row. That's Buzz, and Buzz got a surprise this weekend with the discovery of some discolored carpet in the bottom of a closet -- it was from moisture and that's bad for a collector because those white storage boxes are thirsty. They love dry and dark environments -- but they love to drink up every drop of water they can find.
Thankfully, there was absolutely no damage done here -- except damage to one stressed-out collector -- because the details about storage were thought about long ago. Some strategies when it comes to storage saved hundreds if not thousands of dollars in this case.

Nicknames, honors likely part of variation chase in 2016 Donruss
While The San Diego Chicken's memorabilia cards might be the biggest draw of them all when 2016 Donruss baseball cards arrive next week, there will still be plenty to chase with a hit-loaded and insert-loaded flagship set (see our First Buzz here) from Panini America. And among them just might be variations.
Panini unleashed a preview gallery of 150 cards on Friday, and a handful stood out as having quirks similar to last year's variations.

eBay Buzz: Asking price for top Bryce isn't close to top Trout sale
Either Bryce Harper or Mike Trout who will come to mind first if it's a debate of who's the best in the game, but sometimes it's fun just to look at the outrageous asking prices for these types of players' key cards on eBay.The 2011 Bowman Chrome Prospect Autographs Refractor you see above leads the league among current auctions for Harper, checking in with an asking price of $24,999.99 Buy it Now. (No, seriously, go look.)
As goofy as that one might be, consider that the top Trout price -- one reportedly paid -- is even higher. That one's for a BGS 10 first Bowman Chrome Refractor auto with a serial number matching Trout's No. 27 on the field.

Roberto Clemente & the Dodgers? Yep, and there's a baseball card ...
We all know Roberto Clemente as a legendary member of the Pittsburgh Pirates and a Hall of Famer who helped pave the way for Latin American players in MLB.However, it was today back in 1954 when he signed a contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers and became a member of the Montreal Royals -- the team where Jackie Robinson had started before he broke MLB's color barrier in 1947. The move was largely to block Clemente from being signed by the New York Giants.
Veteran collectors know there's even a baseball card showing this.

Buzz List: Five other ways to collect your favorite baseball player or team beyond the world of cardboard
One of the challenges of collecting once you reach a certain level (either in years or cards) is how to keep yourself engaged in a hobby that can be full of obstacles.Cost can be an obstacle. A limited number of releases including your player or team -- or scarcity of cards within those releases that are made -- can be an obstacle. A player retiring can be an obstacle. These aren't the only ones, either.
Once you have a certain number of cards for a player or a team, though, maybe it's time to consider adding to your collection in a few simple ways that are already around you. They can be just as challenging as cards, too.
Here are a few options ...
