Detective Comics 1,000 packs more than 80 variant covers

Batman is a comics (and movies) giant and a landmark issue in the history of the character arrives at midnight with a huge presence fully emerging at many locations around the world in full tomorrow.

It's Detective Comics No. 1,000 and it's got more than 80 different covers -- this may not be all of them here -- for fans to chase between all of its decades variants and chain-exclusives.

That comes with a star-studded creative team not only on all the various covers but inside, too, as the issue is a 96-page behemoth arriving for the 80th anniversary of the icon that came back in issue No. 27 of the series.

The standard cover can be seen up top -- a wraparound by Jim Lee and Scott Williams -- while a vertical version of that one will be found at shops beginning at midnight. Beyond that for mainstream distribution, there are decades variants with the nameplates and styles used in the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and a blank version for sketch artists to create something anew. Beyond those, there are a number of artist- and chain-specific covers that will be out there, too. The rest can be seen in the gallery below.
