BIG NAMES IN NEW PLACES
The Item: Odell Beckham Jr. 2014 Panini National Treasures Hats Off Signatures New Era Tag (1/1) ... plus a few more autos and cards
The Price: $7,000 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: There are a number of NFL veterans in new places this coming season -- Antonio Brown, Mark Ingram, Kareem Hunt, Nick Foles, Le'Veon Bell and Mark Ingram for starters -- but it's perhaps Odell Beckham Jr. who walks into the best position for potential cardboard hype as he's now the big target for Baker Mayfield in his sophomore campaign after a "dangerous" and record-setting rookie season. Beckham's last three seasons haven't been nearly as productive as his first two -- a big drop-off on the field and even more off of it -- but if you're a believer in the talent it's time to buy. (Right?) The complaints about future Hall of Famer Eli Manning won't be there, so the production will be. (Right?) Antonio Brown leaves a team with a solid cardboard fan base for one that's also strong -- but it's a team that's seriously underachieved. Hunt is perhaps done on cards. Foles is perhaps a push and Bell could be in for a big tumble ... or big ups if The Big Apple's underachievers are successful. Ingram? He's leaving as the Saints career rushing TD leader and almost its career yards leader (less than 100 yards short) for a team where he might get the ball more but might be off the radar card-wise vs. New Orleans. That leaves Beckham as the biggest potential gainer here ... am I right? We'll see. This is a solid card and the lot includes a few others but there are a lot of high-end options out there for one of the biggest guys in the rookie crop of five years ago.

FEELING SUPER?
The Item: Ronald Acuña Jr. 2018 Topps Heritage High Number Superfractor (1/1)
The Price: $29,999.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This one is a biggie in one of the most-popular releases of last year but I'm not sure it's that big ... but that's why that "best offer" part exists. The reigning National League Rookie of the Year could do some big things this season -- remember, he only played in 111 games last year while still hitting 26 homers and .293. This card could command some big bucks if it were slabbed -- closer to this amount but not that high -- but it's still notable enough that I have to present it here.

ONE OF MANY OPTIONS ...
The Item: Val Kilmer autographed and inscribed 16-by-20 photo from The Doors (JSA Witnessed)
The Price: $399.99 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Val Kilmer has appeared in a number of iconic roles through the years -- Top Gun, Real Genius, Willow, Tombstone, Batman Forever among many -- but this piece reflects his role as Jim Morrision in The Doors. In that one, Kilmer performed many of the songs from the iconic and short-lived 1960s band and on this piece, he inscribed one of the more-memorable lyrics from one of the band's biggest hits. Kilmer autographs aren't all that tough as he has more than 60 different certified autograph appearances through the years from a few brands. You can even land signed items straight from him via his website. His autograph is one that's a bit minimalist, so the key on a nice piece here is what you get signed, its size, appeal and anything extra. To me, this is closer to a perfect piece though I have seen other versions of this one with other inscriptions that could top it. This is a nice piece.

YOU CAN'T SEE HIM (REALLY)
The Item: John Cena 2002 Fleer WWF Royal Rumble Rookie Card (BGS 9.5)
The Price: $199.99 (six days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Wrestling Rookie Cards are something that some areas of the collecting sphere just haven't gotten around to acknowledging (perhaps due to changing gimmicks and names for performers) but that doesn't mean these cards are not capable of carrying some good demand. This card is John Cena's only card issued in 2002, so it's his only Rookie Card -- and it's one where, ironically, you can't see me, err, him that well. It's also one that shows his early gear more than his jorts that he's worn in the ring for literally years now while becoming a 16-time world champ. This card doesn't seem like it will go for that much -- there are six other BGS 9.5s -- but it is a key card from a set with a few first-timers and it could surprise. Fleer stuff can be notoriously chippy and the gloss doesn't always cooperate when found in pack form -- cards stick. The good news there? You won't easily find boxes ... all these things do make this card pretty appealing to me, though, and Cena has continued to make a bigger presence for himself beyond wrestling.

NATIONAL TREASURES IS HERE
The Item: Baker Mayfield 2018 Panini National Treasures Green Rookie Patch Auto (/6)
The Price: $11,150 after 49 bids (one day remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Top NFL rookies sign plenty of autographs, so it comes down to which brands satisfy particular tastes and then the variables of scarcity, autograph attributes, swatch appeal and then something more to make it different. This card pretty much checks all those boxes and it seems that the bidders agree as there is some stout demand for this card, which is a 6/6 -- serial-numbering that matches the Cleveland Browns QB's jersey number. How much crazier will this one get? I'm not sure, but it ends in little more than one day -- so we'll find out soon.

REAL BIG FISH ... REALLY, REALLY BIG
The Item: Mike Trout 2011 Topps Update Target Red parallel RC (PSA 10)
The Price: $14,600 after 40 bids (six days remaining)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: Here's a rare update to eBay Buzz after first published ... and that price should show you why. This is a new addition to eBay in just the last few hours and it's clearly a card that is in big demand. Ironically, this is an un-numbered card that came from a simple $2 retail pack from a gravity box at Target ... and to think less than a decade later it's commanding new-car pricing. Keep an eye on this card.
