THE POWER OF GRADING
The Item: 1980 Topps Rickey Henderson Rookie Card (PSA 10)
The Price: $17,300 after 33 bids with more than three days remaining
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This is a card that's been slabbed by PSA more than 18,000 times but just 22 have gotten a PSA 10. Even PSA 9s are relatively rare compared to other grades (just 1,842 exist) while PSA 8s are the most-common grade with more than 8,500 cards in that grade. This is an iconic Rookie Card that has topped the $30,000 mark seven times since 2015, according to PSA, with a high of $38,400 via Heritage Auctions early last year. Many times cards like these get posted with hefty Buy-It-Now prices so it should be interesting to see where this piece of cardboard perfection ends.

FROM A BLASTER TO EBAY ...
The Item:
2018 Topps Heritage High Number Real One Autographs Red-ink Shohei Ohtani (/69)
The Price: $5,000 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
You saw this one on this morning's Board Buzz as a retail ripper found this one in a box and had to show it off. Now that collector is fielding offers via eBay. It should be interesting to see how well a stacked Heritage High Number delivers this year when its hobby boxes formally arrive beginning tomorrow.

WINNING CREATES DEMAND
The Item: 2013 Topps Allen & Ginter Autographs Nick Saban
The Price: $250 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This lone copy of the University of Alabama head football coach's autograph from this iconic set that's on eBay has a relatively stout asking price, but a look at completed auctions shows four sales between $210 and $250 -- and it's not like this one is a plentiful card. Saban had a Steiner Sports autograph deal around the time this card arrived so he seemed relatively plentiful back then. Now? Not so much, though he does have about 20 different certified autos from between 2012 and 2014. He hasn't signed since and has two national championships in that time. (He's up to six, which is tied with Paul "Bear" Bryant for the all-time record.) A look at active auctions shows this to be an affordable option compared to other certified authentic sigs.

REEL BIG FISH
The Item:
2018 Topps Luminaries Mike Trout autographed book (1/1)
The Price: $3,000 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This impressive pull came from a box of Luminaries, which is a one-card premium box from Topps that can include some of the most-insane cardboard the company has ever created. Don't believe me? Click here. These boxes can deliver on par with a number of high-end brands but without the big price. For one card, it's still pricey but it can deliver.

AN UNDERPRICED RARITY?
The Item:
2018 Panini Spectra Nebula Sam Darnold patch auto (/2)
The Price: $2,500 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This guy is the New York Jets' starting quarterback and he's the youngest starter in the NFL in a long, long time. That first play wasn't impressive but the rest of his first game went relatively well. In the right here right now, this seems like a low price for a rare card of a Jets starter. Sure, there's plenty more action and cardboard to come, but this is a solid card at what seems like a price that could be topped if he builds upon that first game and arrives as the QB the Jets have been seeking for several seasons.

PLENTY OF TALENT ... AND TIME TO GO
The Item:
2018 Panini Origins rookie auto book -- Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Saquon Barkley, Calvin Ridley, DJ Moore, Rashaad Penny (1/1)
The Price: $32 after 13 bids with six-plus days remaining
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This card's stars had some strong starts in some cases but there's plenty of time to go for them this season as well as in this auction. Everything is an on-card auto with this one and the "00" uniform-number presence that's often common with Origins isn't as dramatically seen here, which helps the card. This is a nice piece that should be interesting to see how much it goes for when it's done. At season's end it will be interesting to see who had the best year of these guys, too.

LEGENDARY CUT
The Item:
2017 Panini Certified Cuts Collegiate Cuts Knute Rockne cut auto (1/1)
The Price: $5,000 Buy-It-Now (or best offer)
Why it’s Buzz-worthy:
This college football legend will always be in demand and this is one of just a handful of his cut autos to ever appear in a pack of NFL cards. All four of those are 1/1 cards and he's only got a few others from non-NFL releases. He died in 1931 at age 43, so his ink is not plentiful by any means and price tags attached to signed letters are regularly pushing $5,000.
