What's buzz-worthy: Allen & Ginter returns with a new more minimalist look but the same feel as with recent years of celebrating the 1880s style of baseball cards -- but with today's stars and inclusions.

The Basics: The base set will once again be 300 cards capped by 50 short-prints all with an array of mini and full-size parallels. There will be Hot Boxes once again this year with a Silver Hot Box parallel possible and 1/1 Glossy parallel for the full-size cards. For the minis, which are one per pack, there will be A&G backs (1:5), Black (1:10), no-numbers (/50), Brooklyn (/25), Wood (/1; hobby-only), Glossy (/1), Metal (/3; hobby-only for 150 players), Cloth cards (/10) and printing plates (/1). New this year will be Mini Stained Glass variations for 150 players. ... The Relics are again back with a few design types and this time some new additions. There will be full-size Relics and framed mini Relics as well as Presidential Pieces Relics (/25) with Relics from presidents and the White House. There will be DNA Mini Relics with fossils, full-size Arrowhead Relics (/5), "Have Ball, Will Travel" Token Relics (/5, mass transit tokens) and 100 framed 1/1 original buybacks. ... There also will be auto Relic books (/10 copies max) and auto dual Relic books (/10 or less). ... The Framed autos will once again include past and present baseball players, other athletes, non-baseball celebs and "world's champions" with Black Frame parallels (/25) and Red ink versions. Also in play will be 1/1 cut autos.
Rip Cards are back two per case with standard and double Rips and inside these will be original art, mini exclusives (351-400), Metal (/3) and 1/1 Wood cards just like the past but also with new 1/1 Stained Glass variation minis, too -- but those are only found in new box-topper Rip Cards. ... Standard inserts look like a totally new lineup with Ginter Greats (top players), Baseball Star Signs (astrological signs), Mares and Stallions (horse breeds), Incredible Equipment (weapons and tools from fictional characters -- with Relics) and The History of Flight. ... Mini inserts will include Collectible Canines (dog breeds), Look Out Below (waterfalls), Chugging Along (engines), Lost Languages, In Bloom (flowers) and Dreams of Blue Ribbons (oddball contests). ... Rounding things out will be box-toppers of rookies and stars, topper autos (/15), Look Out Below, N43s and N43 autos (/15) in addition to the box-topper Rip Cards.
