First Buzz: 2023 Panini Mosaic football cards (updated)

What's buzz-worthy: Mosaic arrives for its fourth NFL season with more color as part of what Panini calls a "a stunning parallel ensemble" and plenty of inserts all with the look that collectors have come to expect from this brand.

The Basics: Each box once again will include five Silver parallels, 15 more Mosaic parallels and 20 more inserts along with the hits and base just like last year. ... The base set size was not disclosed in advance -- nor were the parallel lineups -- but colors for some will include Red, Blue, Purple, White, Gold, Black and the Tessellation texture for starters. ... Among inserts will be Spash!, Swagger, Stained Glass, Men of Mastery and Straight Fire to start things off, while autographs will include at least Showtime Signatures, In Focus Signatures and Rookie Autos. Ink for past stars and Hall of Famers will once again be in play. ... Boxes once again will carry a suggested retail price of $225.

Update (Aug. 14): There also will be three other formats for this one -- Choice, No Huddle and Asia -- as well as retail options. You can see the basic inclusions for all of them in the gallery breakdown below. Choice boxes will carry a suggested retail price of $200 with one auto, one Silver and one Mosaic card per eight-card box. No Huddle boxes also will guarantee an autograph. See all details below.
