What's buzz-worthy: Optic hits the court for another season with the established formula that NBA fans have come to expect with the new rookies, plenty of parallel power and more to be found.

The Basics: There will be 20 inserts per box atop of the auto and the base in this one just like previous years, meanwhile, the base set will be 225 cards capped by 50 Rated Rookies and 25 Legends -- a larger lineup than last year. Parallels will include Holo, Aqua (/225), Orange (/175), Lime Green (/149), Jazz, Red (/99), Pink Velocity (/79), Blue (/49), Black Velocity (/39), Gold (/10), Green (/5) and 1/1 Gold Vinyl. Also in play will be the short-printed Photon parallel and new Cracked Ice (/25) and Black Pandora (/15) parallels.

Among the inserts will be Elite Dominators, Rising Suns, The Rookies, Lights Out, Red Hot Rookies and Net Marvels all with serial-numbered parallels /99 or less. Joining them will be "SSP" Alter Ego, hobby-only Downtown and Slammy! cards. These will have Gold (/10) and 1/1 Gold Vinyl parallels.

Autographs will include Rated Rookies Signatures, Opti-graphs and dual rookies for starters with parallels in play of varying types (lineup not noted in full in advance) that will include Black Pandora, Gold and Gold Vinyl.

Boxes once again carry a suggested retail price of $300 ($15 per four-card pack).

Fast Break: There also will be Fast Break boxes in this one (10 nine-card packs per box, 20 boxes per case) with one auto and 18 inserts included. Among parallels will be Fast Break Holo, Purple (/99), Red (/75), Blue (/49), Pink (/25), Gold (/10), Red & Yellow (/7), Neon Green (/5) and 1/1 Black. The Fast Break texture will be in play for all cards, while autos will include Rated Rookies Signatures with Pink (/25) and 1/1 Black as well as Fast Break Signatures with Pink (/25), Gold (/10) and 1/1 Black. ... Inserts here will include Elite Dominators, Rising Suns, The Rookies, Lights Out, Red Hot Rookies and Net Marvels. Parallels will include Holo, Gold (/10) and 1/1 Black for starters there. ... Boxes once again carry a suggested retail price of $220.

Update (Aug. 6): There also will be seven-pack hobby mega boxes for this one ($52.50 SRP; 20 boxes per case) with them guaranteeing 14 Seismic parallels, four Silver parallels and 10 inserts along with 28 base cards. Seismic cards will have Green and Red (/149) versions and Signature Series autos also will have Seismic textures applied. Also in the mix will be Phazes and Mythical with Gold (/10) and 1/1 Gold Vinyl parallels as well as standard inserts such as My House, Express Lane, Splash!, Optical Illusions, White Hot Rookies and Winner Stays.
