First Buzz: 2024 Topps Cosmic Chrome football cards

What's buzz-worthy: Topps Chrome goes intergalactic for football for the first time with a mix of flashy Refractor colors and patterns and plenty of star power that includes some newcomers and a number of all-time greats.

The Basics: A typical box will include one Nucleus Refractor and four other parallels, while each case will have four autos, three White Hole Refractors, three Planetary Pursuit cards, one Starfractor and one "SSP" case hit.

The 200-card base set will have an array of Refractors (see gallery) and will be joined by Starfractors for the top 100 players who will have three parallels per card there. Joining them will be a number of insert sets -- Star Clusters, Launched Into Orbit, Star Command and Galaxy Greats for starters. Those will have Blue (/99), Gold (/50), Orange (/25), Black (/10), Red (/5) and 1/1 Superfractors to chase. Four "SSP" insert sets this time will be Cos-Play, Cosmic Heroes, Cosmic Dust and Stella Nova. Planetary Pursuit cards also will be a thing here for nine planets plus the sun -- and "the further you get from the sun, the tougher the chase."

Autographs will have a lineup of four card types -- Cosmic, Milky Way, Equinox and First Flight. All will have Gold (/50), Orange (/25), Black (/10), Red (/5) and 1/1 Superfactors.
