National Baseball Card Day is Saturday ... are you ready?

The clock is ticking down and the cardboard is ready.

Saturday is Topps National Baseball Card Day and whether you're a regular at your local card shop or you're somebody who ripped into packs just for the gum decades ago, some free stuff can be yours at participating shops.

New this year with this one is a retail component -- keep reading for those details -- as part of the annual event that Topps hopes will draw people into collecting with some new stuff to add to their stash.

There will be free NBCD packs for those who visit a shop on Saturday -- autographs will be possible there -- and there will be a bonus card available with a $10 purchase. This year that's a Bryce Harper card and there is a second bonus that you can get with a visit one week later on Aug. 17 -- that one is a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. card.

There is a coupon for a free pack at Target stores as part of this promotion (good until Aug. 18), while Walmart bonus packs will be teasers for Topps Gallery and they'll be found in specially marked Bowman Platinum hanger packs.

MLB teams have been doing at-the-ballpark promos leading up to the big day with a number of those giveaways still remaining on the schedule this month.
