New Topps Now MLB cards arrive via Road to Opening Day sets
This entry was posted on February 15, 2019
.Topps Now has started a new baseball card season.
With the first signs of spring training upon us, the 2019 Topps Now Road to Opening Day team sets have arrived on Topps.com and checklists will soon start fill out in real time as the highlights arrive this spring
The first set to show a card so far? The Seattle Mariners and their first card for Yusei Kikuchi as part of a lineup of more than 40 different sets, depending on whether you want to chase autographs.
And, yes, Kikuchi will be a signer -- and there's an added twist for rookies this year.
The standard team sets are $49.99 and are available for the next 50 or so days -- at that time they'll be printed to order. The autographed set prices vary, though, for the 12 teams where they are offered. The autographed sets begin at $69.99 and range up to $174.99 for the Los Angeles Angels.
Every auto set is guaranteed to receive one numbered and signed card (/99, /49, /25, /10, /5 or /1) and all signers will have cards among each grouping. If you buy the same number of sets for signers for a single team, you will get one of each signer. The Angels' signers, for example, will include Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout, Jose Briceno and David Fletcher. Some teams have autographs for new MLB players after they make their debut. (Pssst ... check the Blue Jays.)
Bonus cards are back, too, with those who buy sets also have a shot at bonus cards if certain achievements happen during the season. Here's a rundown of those for the Angels that give bonus cards:
-- Angels place first in division at MLB All-Star Break.
-- Angels throw a no-hitter or perfect game during regular season or postseason.
-- Angels hitter hits for cycle during regular season or postseason.
-- Angels throws 15 strikeouts in a game during regular season or postseason.
-- Angels hitter hits three home runs during regular season or postseason.
