SpongeBob Superfractors commanding top dollar from new set

Somebody in Bikini Bottom really, really, really loves Superfractors.
A quick look at eBay -- and only eBay -- shows nearly 40 completed auctions for those golden 1/1s from 2025 Topps Chrome SpongeBob SquarePants and the prices would pay for many a Krabby Patty.
How much? Well, the top card sold for a cool $50,000 -- and it's not alone. And, well, that one might not even be the biggest card of the bunch from the recent Topps release.
Keep reading for a rundown of the cardboard monsters living in pineapples boxes of Chrome under the sea.
The big sale so far is this triple-auto card with ink from three voice actors who bring the beloved TV icons to life -- Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke and Rodger Bumpass -- who are SpongeBob, Patrick Star and Squidward. It was a $50K sale 10 days ago. A second multi-auto Super sold just today, according to eBay. That one with just two of them (no SpongeBob) and it went for somewhere north of $20K as it is listed above a $20K purchase of a SpongeBob homage to the iconic 1893 piece by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch called "The Scream."
So far, there have been 14 Superfractor sales of $10,000 or more -- most not even autographed -- and that should fare well for what is arguably the top Super to have from the set, the solo SpongeBob Superfractor autograph seen up top.
Basic Supers -- no autographs involved -- have sold from anywhere from $19,999 down to $1,025 (one with a noted defect). Not every Super has been a monster -- clearly people aren't as big on broccoli -- but even that still paid for the box it came from and then some. (See a sampling of them all in the gallery below.)
Oh, and active auctions? There's a $100,000 ask on a different dual auto to lead things off there, while there are a couple dozen other cards up for grabs. (Some perhaps being flips or re-lists from completed auctions but still an impressive group of cards.)

The scary part? Supers are clearly in huge demand here, but the release's sketch cards in this one look really good, too, with a number of four-figure sales and a lot of high-priced 1/1 creations among the cards actively up for grabs. While they won't command the kind of cash like a top-tier Superfractor auto, they still might end up being long-term sleepers. Why? They're unique and colorful one-of-a-kind creations with looks like no others -- even Supers. We'll leave that one for another episode, though.
