ThunderCats homage covers only at Blowout -- shipping today
Update (Feb. 16) -- Pre-ordered copies of this one are shipping today.
--
It's almost time for a ThunderCats reboot ... and it's one that will include BlowoutCards.com.
Set to arrive next week, Dynamite Entertainment's first issue of the legendary series is set to arrive with a number of variant covers in play (see some of the others here) as part of a launch that's already pre-sold more than 170,000 copies. That's the biggest-selling new arrival for the comics industry in years.
Blowout will be part of that array of arresting artistic odes to the heroes of the lair with a limited series of ThunderCats No. 1 exclusives that are an homage to not just one but two iconic and best-selling comic books from the early 1990s all rolled into one -- with exclusive artwork from an iconic creator of that era, too.
There will be four single covers and a fifth collecting them all -- and if you weren't around in 1991 to collect 'em all and to already know what that means, we'll reveal them all right here, right now.
Did somebody say ThunderCats? Wait for a February drop ...
Did somebody say "ThunderCats?"
They did and that one got The Boss' attention at Blowout Cards as Thomas Fish is a serious collector of original comic book art that includes the original pen-and-ink debut panels and/or covers for iconic characters such as Wolverine, Ghost Rider, X-Force and Deadpool. If you didn't know, he also owns the entire issue's worth of original artwork from Jim Lee's X-Men reboot in 1991 ... the No. 1 issue remains the best-selling comic book issue ever with more than 8 million copies sold across five variants. (He's got all of the covers, too -- click the image here to see 'em all up close.)
But ThunderCats? That one checks in as his favorite series ... which leads us to right here, right now today.

The release of 2023 Topps Series 1 baseball cards is just days away ... and there's a lot to like.

One that stands out for The Boss for example? The All Aces insert set that showcases impressive pitchers (at right). Meanwhile, Buzz likes him some Rookie Cards of the reigning National League Rookie Of The Year Michael Harris II.

Just days remain to pre-order Blowout MegaMix boxes & cases
With less than one week left before pre-orders close -- this coming Monday is the final deadline -- your shot at getting your hands on the annual Blowout MegaMix is winding down.
You can order boxes or cases of this one and have it delivered now (click here to pre-order) -- or order to pick up your box at the National Sports Collectors Convention. If you don't do either, there will be a very limited volume of these remixed boxes to be found at this year's show set to begin on July 27 in Atlantic City, N.J. -- but that's only while supplies last.
If you didn't know, there's a new approach this year that ups the variety to ideally hit more collectors' sweet spots while lowering the price point to let more fans dig into the chase. That simple change? Packs. The left side of the sellsheet you see above is just the start of what's up for grabs in this edition -- this time it's a box with at least 10 packs inside as the starting point. New this year there also will be sealed cases of these boxes available -- six boxes per case -- that offer up some smaller bonuses and a surer shot at some of the bonus items that are planned to land every third box with this one.
The bonuses this time? See the right side above -- that's the start. If you keep reading, we'll offer up a look at more of what's in store for this year's MegaMix.

They are Baseball Card Connection (Effingham, Ill), The Card Vault (Foxborough, Mass.), Honey Hole Collectibles (Escondido, Calif.) and Real Sportscards (Champlin, Minn.) The winner gets a grand-prize package worth more than $50,000 as well as an exclusive Loupe streaming deal.
>> CAST YOUR VOTE FOR THE WINNING SHOP RIGHT HERE
"We were overwhelmed by the response to Loupe Presents: America’s Best Card Shop," said Loupe founder and CEO Eric Doty. "A vast majority of the submissions came from customers who wanted to nominate their favorite LCS, which is exactly why we started this initiative. It proves that the foundation of the hobby is in community ties and the personal relationships that are forged over sports cards. It was really cool seeing how many collectors made the effort to help out the people who run their local card shop."
America's Best Card Shop competition opens today
Who's the best? It's a simple question with a number of potential possibilities -- and there's a contest launching today to get a definitive single answer.
America's Best Card Shop is a four-month long competition presented by Loupe, which has joined forces with industry leaders such as Topps, the Miami Marlins and Blowout Cards. The winner gets a grand-prize package worth more than $50,000 as well as an exclusive Loupe streaming deal.
"Our goal is simple, and it's all in the name: We want to find the best sports card store in the United States," read the program's announcement. "If you own a brick-and-mortar sports card store in the U.S. (or want to nominate one), we'd love to hear from you."
Million-dollar card break happens soon tonight in Las Vegas -- and Blowout Cards will be there to witness all of the action
. .
Update: The feed is live. Hit the button to view.
--
What happens in Vegas won't stay in Vegas this time ... because Blowout Cards will be there.
A million-dollar break of 25 cases of 2020-21 Panini Flawless and Flawless FOTL basketball cards -- an event that's pretty much the most-valuable group-break ever -- will happen at 7 p.m. Eastern Thursday night in Las Vegas. This high-stakes break will be streamed via YouTube (right here and right here) and is sponsored by Goldin. It will be hosted by Layton Sports Cards and Blez Sports Cards. Blowout will be there as a case sponsor with action from the scene captured online -- and we'll also embed the video feeds right here on The Buzz.
Spots in the now sold-out break were $40,000 apiece and were filled via both Layton and filled via Blez. There will be 15 standard cases and 10 FOTL cases in the break.
Kids will need to know about show promos at The National
The kids will have something -- something that's only for them -- to look forward to at The National next week.
Details are still coming together, but at least one major card manufacturer (Hint: Panini America) will have a promotion just for kids who collect at the show that tips off in Rosemont, Ill., on Wednesday.
Kids are encouraged to stop by the Blowout Cards booth (No. 854) for the inside information on where to go at the show -- and as an added plus, we'll have free T-shirts for all kids under age 12, too.

StarStock Breaks & Blowout team up for box wars at National
It will be war during three days of this year's National Sports Collectors Convention.
Well ... box wars that is.
StarStock Breaks will host a 64-person box war tournament beginning on Thursday at the show and then things hit center stage at 10 a.m. on Friday before finishing at that same time on Saturday. Blowout Cards is the box provider for the event and spots will go on sale at StarStock.com/breaks at 3 p.m. today.
"Every round the winner will take all the cards from that round. The user who pulls the most-valuable card will be determined by the Market Movers website and will move on to the next round," read a StarStock announcement. "Spots for the break will cost $250 each and the rounds can be seen below."
Loupe adds $5,000 chase into MegaMix amid National plans
Loupe will be at The National this year with a big presence you can potentially explore in big ways with a visit to the Blowout Cards booth.
How big?
Thanks to Loupe, we revealed on Friday that a $5,000 Blowout Cards voucher will be included in one box of the 2021 Blowout MegaMix available for pre-order now and at the show. That one will be randomly inserted into a box randomly so you don't even have to be in Chicago to win big ... or someone who buys a box at the show could do some extra shopping right then and there. Those who attend the five-day show should make plans to visit the booth on Friday (July 30) to experience some of Loupe's new technology and get in on the action.
Loupe is a live-streaming e-commerce app launched late last year ... keep reading to see more of what it's all about.
The National's corporate pavilion will have new feel in 2021
We're just 40 days away from the start of the 41st National Sports Collectors Convention and there are some new details to show that the event will be a little different when things kick off at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., on July 28.
The map for the corporate pavilion was revealed on Friday with some new additions to the row to know. Wild Card will be there as an exhibitor with new cardboard, for example, while Hybrid Grading Approach and Pro-Mold will add a new presence in the grading and supplies realms. Noticeably absent from the area? Upper Deck will not have a booth there -- a move that should impact the lineup of wrapper redemption programs for collectors to partake in while at the show.
Blowout Cards will be at the center of it all, though, nestled between Panini America, Leaf Trading Cards and Fanatics at the show -- Booth No. 854 as seen above -- with releases eligible for all wrapper redemptions available for the duration of the event.
Million-dollar first Pokémon set hits eBay via Blowout Cards
It's the holy grail of gaming ... and it's up for grabs.
BlowoutCards.com is the owner of a PSA 10 grade Pokémon 1st Edition set that previously generated headlines from around the world -- not just the collecting world -- when it previously sold for six figures little over a year ago. Now, it's back on the market with the biggest cards in the mix ... all in PSA's top grade.
The full set of 102 cards, which can be seen in a gallery below, is presently listed on eBay. It has a Buy-It-Now price of $1,000,000.01 -- and serious offers are also being fielded as it's on the market in advance of the 25th anniversary of the game's arrival in the United States next February.
BlowoutCards.com buys 1986-87 Fleer NBA case for collector
Blowoutcards.com is very excited to be part of sports card history.
For more than 20 years, our team has worked with collectors and investors looking to purchase unopened boxes and cases, and early this year while working on The Modern Wax Fund we were fortunate to meet with some of the most-passionate collectors in the business.
The 1986-87 Fleer NBA sealed case of 12 36-pack boxes is one of the most-prestigious, rare and sought-after items in our hobby as it includes the Rookie Cards for Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone and many other Hall of Famers. We fielded dozens of calls for our opinion and assessment of value shortly after what many consider the "holy grail" of modern era sports cards was going to be available at auction.
One of those calls was from a collector that we have worked with in the past and we were given the green light to purchase the case on his behalf. We are pleased to announce that we were successful in procuring it for him via Collect Auctions for $1.79 million on Thursday night.
Based on perfect collation -- Fleer was relatively consistent in its delivery at that time -- the case should be home to roughly 40 untouched Jordans, which have sold for $100,000 in BGS 10 form and PSA 10s have pushed that mark to just over $97,000 via Goldin Auctions. The card is heavily graded but those top marks are elusive due to the printing, cutting and packaging of the era.
Blowout Cards is active in the market and looking to purchase unopened NBA boxes and cases. A few current examples include 1980-81 Topps, 2003-04 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection, any Panini Prizm and also Panini National Treasures releases.
If you have any to sell, please email wanted@blowoutcards.com.

Stay safe: Basic facts on Coronavirus Disease or COVID-19
After a shocking day in the sports world that included the NBA suspending its season for an unknown amount of time, March Madness set to go on without fans in the stands and other college leagues simply suspending their seasons, Blowout Cards wanted to offer some basics to help make sure that our customers are as safe or as prepared as they can be with Coronavirus Disease or COVID-19.
Here are some basics on what exactly it is, according to the Centers of Disease Control and World Health Organization.
What is COVID-19?
According to the Centers for Disease Control, this is a new coronavirus not previously identified. This virus is not the same as coronaviruses that commonly cause mild illnesses like the common cold. The COVID-19 name includes CO for “corona,” VI for “virus” and D for “disease.” There are many types of human coronaviruses. What’s its origin and scope so far?
According to the CDC, the World Health Organization identified COVID-19 in mid-February as it was first identified in Wuhan, China, with the first infections linked to a live animal market. Since that time, though, it has spread to more than 114 counties and killed more than 4,000 worldwide with the WHO calling it a pandemic as of Wednesday. This is the first pandemic, according to the WHO, since since the H1N1 “swine flu” back in 2009. Countries most affected by this virus so far include China, Italy, Iran and South Korea — more than 90 percent of its cases at this time.
