Caitlin Clark joins Panini America as its first female exclusive
A college basketball icon and a future No. 1 draft pick has a new team -- Panini America.
Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark has signed an exclusive autographed card and memorabilia deal and it was revealed Wednesday morning by the Irving, Texas-based company. It's the first exclusive deal with a female athlete for the company, according to Panini.
"Caitlin is a generational talent, and it is natural that she should be our first multi-year exclusive female athlete," said Jason Howarth, Senior VP of Marketing and Athlete Relations in a prepared statement. "We’ll have a range of products and memorabilia featuring Caitlin that we believe fans will love."

Women's basketball loses an icon as Pat Summitt dies at age 64
When it comes to women's basketball, there's one name that should come to mind first -- the long-time coach of the Tennessee Lady Vols, Pat Summitt. She died Tuesday at age 64.
The Hall of Famer won more Division I games than any other coach -- and her wins record still stands on the women's side. She ended her career with 1,038 wins in 38 seasons along with eight national championships, 18 Final Four appearances and 16 SEC championships.
"She truly is a global icon who transcended sports and spent her entire life making a difference in other peoples' lives," UT Athletic Director Dave Hart said in a statement. "She was a genuine, humble leader who focused on helping people achieve more than they thought they were capable of accomplishing. Pat was so much more than a Hall of Fame coach; she was a mother, mentor, leader, friend, humanitarian and inspiration to so many. Her legacy will live on through the countless people she touched throughout her career."
And when it comes to cardboard, there aren't a lot of options for collectors.
Panini reveals short-printed variations in 2015-16 Gold Standard
Base cards are becoming less and less of a find in high-end brands but Panini America has helped keep them on the minds of basketball collectors this year with photo variations in 2015-16 Panini Gold Standard.
And the company has disclosed which variations are the toughest pulls from the high-end product.
