Bartolo Colon's Topps Now card fetches hefty prices on eBay after record-breaking production
On Saturday, Bartolo Colon hit the first home run of his big-league career. On Sunday, that memorable moment became a Topps Now baseball card. On Monday, it became the highest-selling Now card ever with 8,826 copies sold.
Today? Well, it's now a $60 baseball card.

Mike Piazza's game-used jersey from first game after 9-11 sells for $365K
Three years ago, the New York Mets privately sold a group of game-used jerseys from its first game following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The biggest jersey of them all has been re-sold -- so it can be displayed in public.
Two minority owners of the team paid $365,000 for the jersey worn by Mike Piazza during that memorable game so it can be displayed at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, the Baseball Hall of Fame or the Mets museum at CitiField.
The jersey had been put up for sale via Goldin Auctions, which entertained offers to end an auction for the jersey early only on the condition it be displayed. The jersey's story landed it on the back cover of the New York Daily News today.

It's a dirty job, but MLB will do it ...
It's a dirty job, but MLB's got to do it.
Fans of World Series teams and All-Star Game hosts in recent years can remember their big events with game-used dirt jars that can be found via buy-it-now listings MLB Auctions.
Sure, they are novelty items -- but for casual collectors these small items will stand out as something both unique and affordable.
Buzz List: Nine autographs to find in 2013 & 2014 Elite Extra Edition boxes
Countless collectors call themselves prospectors, and that particular focus is one that can lead to a lot of pack-ripping or a lot of secondary market purchases with future flips in mind.
One brand that's got many of those coveted newcomer names year after year is Elite Extra Edition, which is Panini America's foilboard-focused prospecting brand that typically packs one of the deepest checklists and, with Hot Boxes, some of the highest autograph totals in the hobby.
While the dust isn't yet settling on the recently released newest edition of the brand, Buzz decided to take a look back at nine names who you should know from the previous two editions (2013 and 2014) and see how they did last season. Why? There are inevitably some bargains to be had if you consider this brand and these guys (along with countless other players that may not yet be on the radars of too many prospectors) given box prices these days. After all, old wax can still be good wax if the price is right.
Does getting a 1/1 autographed yourself hurt the card's appeal?
One Blowout member did something unconventional by most collectors' standards and has sparked an interesting debate about collecting over on the forum.
He got his 2015 Bowman Chrome Mini Superfractor of Steven Matz autographed in-person. It's since been JSA certified, yet he asks the question "Did I ruin this card?"
In a poll on the site, 55 percent of those who answered said it looks awesome but he killed the value of the card. Just 30 percent said it was a good idea and the rest say he ruined it.
Minor League Baseball's career home run leader retires with more cardboard than you might expect
He's a real-life Crash Davis and just like the big-screen journeyman the career of former big-leaguer Mike Hessman is over.
If you don't know Hessman, it's OK -- you're probably like most of us. You might have one of his baseball cards long forgotten in a box somewhere -- from back in the days when he was a rookie for the Atlanta Braves and a guy who finally got his shot after eight seasons in the minor leagues.
That was back in 2003, but he's still in the news now.
eBay Buzz: 1968 Topps photo slide as rare as it gets for Nolan Ryan
Nolan Ryan is baseball's strikeout king and one of the safest and most-collectable players in the hobby today.
But back when Topps was putting together its 1968 baseball card set, he was just a rookie pitcher for the New York Mets -- a guy who was famously forced to share his Rookie Card with a teammate, Jerry Koosman.
Topps' final World Series releases recap moments & Royals' title
Fans of the Kansas City Royals and their successful run to the World Series have two more options from Topps as the company has released an oversized set for the team and re-issued all of its Postseason Moments wall art in one smaller set.
Topps commemorates Royals' 2015 World Series championship in a day
With the final out of the 2015 World Series coming less than 24 hours ago, Topps has 12 more postseason prints available to collectors commemorating the Greatest Moments of this fall.
Whether you're a fan of the world champion Kansas City Royals and their cast of young stars or the runner-up New York Mets and their powerful young arms, there are options for you. There are six prints -- six Silvers limited to just 25 serial-numbered copies for $34.99 and six 1/1 Golds that are $199.
Will Eric Hosmer's hustle lead to hobby gold? + 5 more Royals to know
The Kansas City Royals are your World Series champions with a cast of younger veteran players who have all-around skills but perhaps not one overall superstar who is a hobby darling.
But thanks to Eric Hosmer's hustle on a ground ball in the ninth to tie it and a five-run rally in the 12th, the Royals wear the crown this year in MLB.
Hosmer has arguably the most potential in the hobby with a good amount of 2008 USA Baseball and other prospect cards predating his MLB card arrivals in 2011. Overall, he has more than 1,500 unique cards and more than 300 certified autographs for collectors to chase. They're not overly plentiful like some stars from that timeframe, but they are out there. If you can't land some of his USA ink, look for the affordable autos in 2008 Razor Signature Series. He's there because he was a Razor exclusive before his Topps autos arrived in 2011.
Keep reading for five more Royals to know.
MLB Auctions & Topps already offering 2015 World Series items (updated)
Update (Nov. 8): Alcides Escobar's home run ball sold for $19,200.
--
If you're a collector of the Kansas City Royals or New York Mets, there are already a number of options for collecting the 2015 World Series just two games into the showdown.
That's thanks to Topps and MLB Auctions.
From Topps there are already commemorative prints showcasing plays from the first two games as part of its ongoing Postseason Moments wall art line. From MLB Auctions, there are game-used items already on the auction block.
Buzz List: Players to watch in this year's World Series
With the Kansas City Royals and the New York Mets squaring off in Game 1 of the World Series tonight, there's plenty of collecting potential for both squads
Why? While there are some young stars and veterans who were once much higher on the radar of collectors in the past, there isn't one unquestioned hobby power player in the group. You know, one guy whose cardboard will be on the minds of everyone with a championship in hand.
Instead, there are a few players with big potential here ... so it's time for a Buzz List.

Quick, can you name the baseball card sets that New York Mets slugger and NLCS MVP Daniel Murphy first appears in?
If you can't, you're not alone, but that number is dwindling as it seems more and more collectors are picking off cards featuring the latest player to have The Big Apple buzzing.
Jacob deGrom has a cardboard edge besides The Big Apple, big hair
Rewind to a year ago and New York Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom was one of the hottest autographs in the hobby simply because of one thing.
He didn't have that much cardboard -- signed or not.
This year, the big-haired right-hander in The Big Apple is working his way toward a potential World Series appearance with his Mets, building upon his 14-8 campaign as the reigning NL Rookie of the Year. And, just like last year, he's got some pretty warm cardboard as he's on the mound in Wrigley Field taking on the Chicago Cubs in the National League Championship Series tonight.

Buzz List: MLB's postseason rookies to watch
The Chicago Cubs are the one to watch on cardboard so far this postseason as their powerful pack of rookies helped knock off the NL Central champion St. Louis Cardinals. They had four newcomers on the field in their NLDS clincher but aren’t the only team bolstered by youth. Here are 11 key rookies from postseason squads who you can find in wax boxes or sets on BlowoutCards.com.
