Buzz Buys: Topanga Now, Bear Bryant, Bo Bichette, LeBron, Shotzi, some oldschool finds, Snoop, Axl Rose & plenty more
Buzz buys and busts a lot of boxes right here for Buzz Breaks, but one of my goals is to rip a little less and talk more about cardboard that I -- and you -- might like. One way to do that? Simple show and tell -- present a few pick-ups and say why they captured my attention.
So, with all that said, here are a few Buzz Buys ...

The Cards: Danielle Fishel 2023 Topps Now 10-pack (/4,993)
The Price: Bundle price from Topps
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: This is among the newer pick-ups for me from Topps this year -- there have not been that many, really -- but the novelty of this one got me to bite on some Topps Now hoping for maybe landing a parallel and something that might draw an elite grade. I got nothing on the parallel front and, well, maybe one of this 10 might be slab-worthy at some point ... but this one was not cleanly made (at least in my batch) with some corner issues and surface spots (lower left side most often). That made this not as fun as I had hoped but I did it anyway as I missed on the auto packs that were reasonably priced -- I would have bought one had I not missed the drop -- and those who have landed unsigned parallels are asking prices that are even higher than what ink cost ... so this one's novelty appeal is strong -- for now. Hopefully, more unusual cards will show up among Topps Now offerings in the coming weeks and months. Novelty Now will get my attention as stuff that's different and unique will have more appeal in the long-term than some might think. I still think a single auto (or maybe a low-volume auto parallel) mixed into regular Topps Now orders could draw more buys, too.

University of Notre Dame signs card deal with Panini America
A school with one of the richest traditions in college football history is now on Panini America's team.
The University of Notre Dame signed an exclusive multi-year trading card agreement with Panini that will begin in April, joining more than 200 colleges and universities to appear on trading cards and potentially be showcased on products solely featuring past stars from the school's athletic programs.
“The ability to finally be able to welcome Notre Dame into the Panini America fold is something we’re extremely proud of," said Panini America CEO Mark Warsop. "There is such a rich history with Notre Dame and we look forward to producing unique trading cards for the Fighting Irish faithful, some of the most passionate fans in the world.”

Ara Parseghian's legendary career didn't translate into much cardboard
Ara Parseghian is among the legendary names in the history of Notre Dame football -- a program with plenty of legends -- but you wouldn't necessarily know that by looking at trading cards.
You'd think there'd be plenty to collect for the coach who led the Fighting Irish for a decade and went 95-17-4 with two national championships but there really isn't.
“Among his many accomplishments, we will remember him above all as a teacher, leader and mentor who brought out the very best in his players, on and off the field,” Notre Dame President Rev. John Jenkins told The Associated Press about the coach who died Wednesday at age 94. “Whenever we asked for Ara’s help at Notre Dame, he was there.”
Konrad Reuland's legacy lives on with Hall of Famer Rod Carew
Odds are you don't know the name Konrad Reuland.
He enrolled at Notre Dame in 2006 with dreams of gridiron glory but had no recorded statistics in seven games played. He transferred to Stanford where he caught 27 balls for 351 yards and a touchdown over two seasons.
The tight end went undrafted in 2011 but caught on with four NFL teams over five seasons, mostly practice-squad work, but he did play in 30 games (starting four) for the Jets and Ravens -- the last coming in 2015.
But these aren't the reasons you could now hear his name.

UFC star Ronda Rousey leads long list of athletes in SI Swimsuit Issue -- and many can be found on cards
It's February and that means that we're set for the Super Bowl and some mass-marketing from SI.com over the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
And in reality the hype for both already has begun.
The last time we saw Ronda Rousey, she was suffering the first loss of her UFC career. Up next she'll be in the annual issue for the second year in a row. More publicity won't hurt her already-in-high-demand cardboard. She's one of a long list of athletes to appear in the issue and part of an even longer list of models who appear on cards and have certified autographs and even memorabilia cards for collectors to chase.
For the traditional models, there actually were SI Swimsuit card sets released each year from 2003 to 2009 from Stellar Collectibles and then a later retrospective set. In those sets, we got autographs, memorabilia cards and even paint cards from photoshoots. Meanwhile, for many of the athletes who have appeared in the issue since, there are autograph appearances in sets like Topps' Allen & Ginter (and many other sets) where collectors can also sometimes find the models. Kate Upton and Chrissy Teigen have been found there for example, and they sell very well.
Here's a rundown of a few sports stars who we've seen in the issue.
