Collecting Game-used: Elly De La Cruz via bargain bin? (Yep.)

Elly De La Cruz. That was a name I'd hope for -- but never expect -- from the mystery bargain bin ... but here we are.
This month's ball in the Collecting Game-used series is another from a $30 blind grab-bag kind -- picking only from the known date and teams -- and while I totally did not know it was Pup Night at PNC Park (see the gallery) I did know that both squads have some young notables in play in 2024. There's no Paul Skenes action on this day, of course, as he pitched the day before this one but I knew there would be potential for a price that's close to as cheap as it gets for a game-used baseball.

Leaf reveals promo pack plans for this year's National show

Leaf Trading Cards will have some chase cards up for grabs at this year's National Sports Collectors Convention.
The company revealed on Thursday its box-break redemption program for the show that kicks off next Wednesday in Cleveland.
A collector who opens a box of one of six Leaf releases at the company's booth during the show will get two promo packs made for this year's show.

Update (July 14): After the first day of the 2024 MLB Draft, 22 of the 24 eligible players in the card set included in this issue have been picked, including 13 of the first 14 selected on Sunday night. Overall, 18 were first-rounders, while one of the two 2024 players who went un-drafted actually withdrew to play for LSU next year. For those attending this year's National Sports Collectors Convention in Cleveland, hit the Blowout Cards booth (No. 5,010) on Friday, July 26. Beginning at 11 a.m., the first 500 visitors can get a free copy of the issue.
