ThunderCats: The Roleplaying Game coming via Kickstarter

The ThunderCats are about to roar once again in a new way.

A Kickstarter campaign to bring a new game to life hit its funding goal in one minute after it recently launched and it will get into collectors' hands not long after the ordering window closes.

Lynnvander Studios and Dynamite Entertainment are behind ThunderCats: The Roleplaying Game with pledges topping $46,000 so far via more than 500 backers after having a goal of only $1,985 when it launched.

There are four formats up for grabs with this -- a PDF version, a physical hardcover, a Kickstarter-exclusive variant art hardcover and a deluxe leather-bound hardcover limited to only 1,985 copies. (See all three in the gallery.)

The rulebook is more than 240 full-color pages "fully compatible with the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition system," according to the campaign. It will include character creation rules as well as "new class, subclasses, feats, artifacts, monster stat-blocks and backgrounds designed specifically for the ThunderCats universe." This one also will include an "expansive campaign setting blending the cartoon and comic continuities into a unified world" as it builds upon the "rich lore and history drawn from decades of stories" with "stunning full-color art capturing the characters, creatures, and landscapes of Third Earth."
