Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud? You decide ... here's Chapter 46

With these Ticket Stud or Ticket Dud stories I'm turning just a tiny bit of that energy just a few degrees away from cards (we'll still have plenty of them here) for a different kind of cardboard. What am I doing? Simple ... this is an occasional dip into some random ticket lots -- a show and tell showing something small with a story.

This time? Rain won ... and then so did the Atlanta Braves thanks in part to a Hall of Famer's pinch-hit home run.

Keep reading to see the details this time ... and tell me if you think it's a Ticket Stud or a Ticket Dud.

THE DETAILS ...
The Category:
Major League Baseball
The Events:
Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals -- June 1, 2012 ... postponed due to severe weather -- rescheduled as Game 1 of a split doubleheader on July 21, 2012
The Results: Braves 4, Nationals 0
The Attendance: 28,745 at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.
The Price: $24
The Cost (for me): Pocket change as part of a bulk lot

The Ticket Studs (Key Players): Braves pinch-hitter Chipper Jones with a two-run HR in the ninth inning.
Others: Braves -- C Brian McCann 1-for-2 HR, OF Michael Bourn 2-for-5 with a run, SP Ben Sheets six scoreless innings with six Ks for the victory. Nationals -- Rookie OF Bryce Harper 0-for-1, OF Roger Bernadina 2-for-3, 3B Ryan Zimmerman 1-for-3, SP Edwin Jackson nine Ks in seven innings, allowing only one run and getting the loss.

What's Buzz-worthy: This one was a first for a pull from my mystery lot -- a game that was postponed -- and then it ended up being a Hall of Famer's home run ticket. That homer was the 463rd of Chipper Jones' career -- and he only hit five more after that. This also was the 72nd career game for rookie Bryce Harper and No. 923 for Ryan Zimmerman, who appears on the ticket with pitcher Tyler Clippard. The Brian McCann homer was the 152nd of his career, while Ben Sheets' win was the 91st of his career and he only played in seven games after this one.

Stud or Dud? The home run makes this ticket a stud alone, but a Harper rookie-year game, McCann, Sheets and Zimmerman all have been popular card guys in the past and definitely don't hurt the appeal here.
