Topps 3D baseball set coming via Topps On Demand (updated)

There's a new take on Topps baseball cards on the way.

A three-dimensional take.

The company teased on Wednesday that it will have a Topps On Demand set soon called Topps 3D that appears to apply a plastic multi-layered look at baseball cards via its online distribution platform -- and they are now live with a sale window that will last for the next 55 days.

This one will take the 100 best cards from 2018 Topps Series 1, Series 2 and Update and give them a three-dimensional feel. They'll come in eight-card packs for $19.99 only initially via Topps.com with five 3-D base cards and three Insert Motion inserts per pack. They'll ship seven-to-10 days after the sales window closes.

There have been just six previous Topps On Demand releases this year with three of those being non-sports (Star Wars and the royal wedding). The best-selling of the baseball release was a modern take on the 1978 Topps design with 2,040 sets sold.
