BuzzMania: Busting a 1998 Comic Images WWF Superstarz pack (Hour 8)
This entry was posted on April 6, 2018
.The biggest weekend in professional wrestling is here with WrestleMania 34 set for Sunday in New Orleans and events beginning tonight with the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony, a NXT Takeover on Saturday and then Raw/Smackdown tapings after that. We'll make today a big day for wrestling collectors right here on The Buzz with #BuzzMania, a series of WWE wax box and wax pack breaks all day long.
How long will we go? Stay tuned ...

Card That Stole The Show: The D-X team card is the winner here.
What's Buzz-worthy: The Attitude Era remains one of the biggest time for WWE in pop culture, TV ratings and merchandising but there aren't that many trading card sets from the early part of that timeframe. This set was one of a few from Comic Images before Fleer got the license in 2001 and it was the first for Comic Images/DuoCards. Autographs can be found one in every 100 packs here and it's a lineup that includes the only autographed WWE card for The Rock as well as Chyna, Road Warrior Hawk, Owen Hart, Sable and a few others. This pack included just base cards and gives a hint of what's possible. The high-gloss approach here can lead to snowy cards if they stick -- this one wasn't bad but the chippy stock will be a nightmare if you're one to try grading your favorites or first cards. In-pack card debuts here include The Rock, Edge, Mankind, Steve Austin and plenty of others. The backs of these cards are text-heavy and a bit cliche in their design, but the full-bleed photography on the fronts carry things well. I overpaid a bit for this pack to break it here -- the boxes can be pricey and there's a shot you'll get a smackdown with a redemption card if you do find an auto.
Product Grade: A
Pack Grade: B+
Fun Grade: B (safer to rip in volume if you can find it)
