Few top Oscar nominees can be found on certified autographs
The Academy Awards are set for Sunday and the top films and actors will come home with Oscars, but you shouldn't expect to be able to build a collection of the winners' certified autograph cards.
Why?Because barely any of this year's top nominees have ever signed on for a certified (non-cut) autograph. And, in most instances, it's been years since those few who have signed have sat down to do the honors.

What's hotter than the hottest Marvel book from the hottest Marvel movie? Buzz's boss knows ...
Deadpool's $150 million showing at the box office this past weekend was a landmark moment for both R-rated movies and a potential game-changer for comic book films, too.
It set box-office records for its rating, records for its studio, records for its time of year and a few other fronts ... and it all started for the character 15 years ago this month as The New Mutants was a Marvel Comics series that was winding down. Deadpool debuted in issue 98, which was called "The Beginning of the End Part 1" -- the title's final issue was just two months away. The duo that created Deadpool was artist-writer Rob Liefeld and writer Fabian Nicieza -- and their work was seen by many readers that month but many, many more when X-Force No. 1 arrived a few months later. One of those books is one of the hottest in collecting today -- Mutants No. 98 -- while the other is one that collectors of the Polybag Era have stashed away in bulk. (Buzz is right there with a few dozen in a box somewhere.)
But what's got to be hotter than the hot book for the hottest movie of the moment?

Topps readies a Star Wars: The Force Awakens autograph for ... BB-8?
It was no surprise that one of the stars of Star Wars: The Force Awakens was the new droid in the franchise's universe. Why? Because it was seen everywhere before the movie's arrival, allowing us to marvel at the idea of a real robot -- a head atop a rolling ball -- being part of the action and not someone in a suit or something that's purely computer-generated.If you didn't know, that robot was BB-8.
However, the news from Topps this week was a surprise as it's going to have a BB-8 autographed card in 2016 Topps Star Wars: The Force Awakens Series 2 when it arrives late next month. How?

As part of the unending pre-Super Bowl coverage, fans will inevitably hear more about a guy who's not been seen on cardboard much in recent years. It's Carolina Panthers tackle Michael Oher -- the subject of The Blind Side, an Oscar-nominated film from 2009 that starred Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw as his adopted parents.
Oher was a first-round pick out of Ole Miss in 2009 and was a member of the 2013 Baltimore Ravens, which won it all. But since then he's battled injuries and was released by the Tennessee Titans before the Panthers came calling. His story being revisited could spark added interest in his football cards.

Abe Vigoda had very few roles when it came to trading cards
Actor Abe Vigoda had many roles in his acting career, but for people of a certain age his roles in Barney Miller and The Godfather might come to mind first.Sal Tassio and Detective Fish were the most-memorable for the veteran actor during a career that spanned from the 1940s into the 2000s -- nearly 100 credits. He died on Tuesday at age 94.
His roles on cardboard? They were much more limited.
eBay Buzz: Topps Star Wars Force Awakens Mystery Autograph Redemption tops $2,000 mark

The last time we had checked in on the Mystery Redemption from 2015 Topps Star Wars: The Force Awakens Series 1 it had sold for big bucks on eBay -- going for $1,700.
(Spoiler alert: It was initially revealed to be for an autograph of Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, though Topps Marketing Communications Manager Susan Lulgjuraj said there is not yet a confirmed subject for the card.)
But now an actual sale has gone even higher.
Earlier this month, a copy of the redemption topped the $2,000 mark, selling for $2,050 via a Best Offer in this auction. That has helped inflate asking prices for the card in active auctions as cards continue to be tucked away into personal collections.
