Collectors of Funko Pop! figures will have several new figures on the way in February and beyond as the Lynnwood, Wash.-based company continues to expand its lineups.Among the figures to come are characters from the Battlestar Galactica TV series, Independence Day, Clueless, a new wave of WWE characters and a deep Harry Potter roster.

Batman vs. Superman will make its way onto NASCAR track & diecasts
If you don't remember seeing anything about Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice on TV or anywhere else, you might need to check your pulse.One more place you're going to be seeing more of the DC Comics powers before the movie arrives is on the NASCAR track and on diecast cars from Lionel Racing, which teased the forthcoming cars this week. The No. 48 Chevy of six-time champ and NASCAR's Clark Kent, Jimmie Johnson, will take on the role of Superman.

Hasbro-Paramount movie deal should spark new interest in old toys
If you're a fan of a few 1980s toy brands and their cartoons, a new movie deal revealed Tuesday should spark added interest in those collectible toys.
Paramount Pictures and Hasbro have agreed to create films for five properties all as part of one movie universe -- MASK, G.I. Joe, Micronauts, Visionaries and ROM."Paramount and Hasbro have had a longstanding relationship and we're proud of the success we've enjoyed on the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises," said Brad Grey, Chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures in a prepared statement. "We're excited to grow our agreement and make even more movies based upon these popular and powerful Hasbro characters and their worlds."

It's a trend that's been growing for the last decade, but there are probably more than a few collectors who have walked right by them in the card aisle at retail stores not realizing what can be had inside packs.

Business Buzz: Funko Pop! maker sold to investment group
Fans of Funko Pop! figures may not see a change in their seemingly always-arriving collectibles, but there was a change in ownership for the Everett, Wash.-based company that makes them earlier this month.Funko, which was founded in 1998, was acquired by ACON Investments for an undisclosed sum. Its CEO, Brian Mariotti, and management team will continue to lead operations.
"We are excited to be partnering with Brian and the entire Funko team," said Ken Brotman, Founding Partner of ACON, in a prepared statement. "Funko has established itself as a fore-runner in the pop culture space and we look forward to building value in a business that is very well positioned for continued growth."
