Funko unleashes Suicide Squad toys across several new product lines
Funko is all set for the arrival of the Suicide Squad movie and has new releases coming in several lines coming to prove it.The Lynnwood, Wash.-based company revealed pieces in seven lines on Wednesday afternoon, including several of the characters in the DC Comics-created film coming on Aug. 5.

Funko launches Specialty Series for exclusive toys every month
A pair of new and exclusive Funko toys will only be found every month via the Specialty Series.The Lynnwood, Wash.-based company revealed its new program while also noting its first two releases in a program that is basically a "hobby shop" vs. "widespread retail" approach that we're all familiar with in the trading card world.
"You’ll only be able to find these Specialty Series exclusives in boutique retail, specialty stores, local comic book shops and from qualified online retailers," the company said in a release. "This is your chance to help support local businesses and smaller retailers, and you’ll pick up an amazing exclusive item in the process."
Funko readies Pop! toys for upcoming Star Trek Beyond movie
Funko will be getting in on the Star Trek Beyond action with a series of toys for the upcoming movie to arrive in July.A line of nine toys will spotlight the main crew of the Enterprise for the film along with two new alien characters to be part of the new tale.
Ferris Bueller, Scott Pilgrim & Golden Girls on way as Funko Pop!

Business Buzz: Funko Pop! maker sold to investment group
Fans of Funko Pop! figures may not see a change in their seemingly always-arriving collectibles, but there was a change in ownership for the Everett, Wash.-based company that makes them earlier this month.Funko, which was founded in 1998, was acquired by ACON Investments for an undisclosed sum. Its CEO, Brian Mariotti, and management team will continue to lead operations.
"We are excited to be partnering with Brian and the entire Funko team," said Ken Brotman, Founding Partner of ACON, in a prepared statement. "Funko has established itself as a fore-runner in the pop culture space and we look forward to building value in a business that is very well positioned for continued growth."
