A giant in the field of comic books is gone.

Stan Lee -- one of the creators behind a number of iconic super heroes and teams such as Spider-Man, The X-Men, The Incredible Hulk, Black Panther, Daredevil, The Fantastic Four, Thor, Iron Man, Silver Surfer and so many more -- has died. He was 95.

For years, Lee was a writer, editor and the publisher at Marvel Comics and in recent years he had worked in film, TV and other pop culture realms as a creator while also being king of cameos in many of the Marvel Studios films. His comic book career began in 1939.

"I used to think what I did was not very important," Lee told the Chicago Tribune in 2014. "People are building bridges and engaging in medical research, and here I was doing stories about fictional people who do extraordinary, crazy things and wear costumes. But I suppose I have come to realize that entertainment is not easily dismissed."

The trailer for Avengers: Infinity War has arrived in advance of its arrival in May, and it's got everything you might expect and more.

This one's clearly going to be darker, but it's also going to bring some groups together that haven't shared screen time before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It will be the 19th film as part of the continuity (away from the X-Men films, which are a different studio) when it arrives.

It's a simple idea -- a comic book take on an iconic album cover -- and it's going straight outta comics to the bookshelf once again this fall.

Set to drop in September is Marvel: The Hip-Hop Covers Vol. 2, a hardcover collection of past variant comic book covers all in one place. The newest small star of the big screen world that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be a big deal once again very soon on the auction block.

How?

The original art used for the first comic book appearance of Laura Kinney, aka X-23, will be hitting the open market next month via Heritage Auctions.

X-23 is the new star played by Dafne Keen alongside Hugh Jackman in Logan, which has raked its way to more than $104 million at the box office in the United States alone since its release less than one week ago. (It's up to $295 million world-wide.)

It's going to be a blockbuster and Funko has the toys to prove it.

The first Saturday in may is a holiday for comic book collectors as it's Free Comic Book Day.

A total of 50 books from nearly that many publishers have been created specifically for the day -- and they can only initially be had by making a visit to a participating shop.

“We have an incredible selection of Silver comics for fans for Free Comic Book Day this year, and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our 15th anniversary of the event than with such a diverse range of titles for readers of all ages,” said FCBD Marketing Director Dan Manser. “Free Comic Book Day is such an important day for celebrating fans and their local comic shops, as well as introducing new readers to comics. Our Silver-level supporters have really helped make this year special with such an interesting selection of titles.”
