Are you ready for some football? Buzz picks five NFL Draft rips
If you hadn't noticed, there are a number of boxes with discounted prices right now right here as the newly launched Blowout Cards NFL Draft Supersale is here.
A few of them caught Buzz's attention with their potential ... here are some picks from that group in the sale that just dropped ahead of the NFL Draft next week.
--
BOWMAN'S BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
2022 Bowman's Best University hobby box & eight-box case
The newest box in the big sale is one with a lot of potential between guys who are set to be drafted soon -- or perhaps later -- as well as cards and autos from guys who are already in the NFL. How is this possible? NIL deals that let players show up on cards well before draft time -- and that makes it one with a longer shelf life in terms of potential. Who's in here? Among the already-pro names are C.J. Stroud, Jahmyr Gibbs, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, Jordan Addison, Bijan Robinson, Will Anderson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba for starters. Among the 2024 draft hopefuls and potential future picks? Caleb Williams, Bo Nix, J.J. McCarthy, Blake Corum, Jordan Travis, D.J. Uiagalelei, Dallas Turner, J.C. Latham, Kool-Aid McKinstry and Taulia Tagovailoa to name a few. There are autos for a lot -- it not all -- of them in both insert sets and standard ink as well as a small lineup of rarer dual- and triple-auto cards, too. (There's heat here -- especially when slabbed.) The best part here beyond all of the parallel and potentially Super finds in play are two autographs in every single box. Cases should also be considered here, too.Keep reading for a few more boxes you should consider (and are likely to end up in Buzz's cart).

Buzz Buys: Early autographs, cheap Rookie Cards, oddball memorabilia, vintage, some of my favorite names & more
Buzz buys and busts a lot of boxes right here for Buzz Breaks, but one of my goals is to rip a little less and talk more about cardboard that I -- and you -- might like. One way to do that? Simple show and tell -- present a few pick-ups and say why they captured my attention.
So, with all that said, here are a few Buzz Buys ...

I CAN'T LAND THE CARD, BUT ... THIS IS EVEN BETTER
The Item: Paige autographed 2012 FCW Summer Slamarama 12-by-18 promotional poster
The Price: Pricey ... but probably less than your new WWE hobby box
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: So, what is this? It's a piece of 2000s WWE history that ultimately would only surface regionally (in Florida) and is one of few collectible options for the company's developmental ranks in the years before NXT was on TV every week. Florida Championship Wrestling was NXT's predecessor with it being broadcast on regional TV only (and sometimes weeks after events happened ... not live). Meanwhile, many of today's current stars got their starts there with different names than you might know -- and the only "stuff" that might be found now for this summer in particular are a single in-demand (and counterfeited) card set, potential programs/magazines, tickets and maybe a calendar ... but FCW wasn't like NXT is now in a lot of ways. It wasn't uncommon for the stars of now to be taking money for tickets or helping the crowd members find their seats before a modest small-venue show. This is a large poster that uses a version of Paige's card from that set of the same name -- a pricey one that's eluded me due to price and the fakes (I'd only buy graded) -- and this auto is an early, full-letter signature unlike her few card autos. It came from a Florida-based collector who went to an FCW show on June 8, 2012, in Punta Gorda, Fla., and landed it at a signing to kick off the regional Summer Slamarama Tour that year ... and that was the first event. Supposedly only 300 fans per stop (while they lasted) got card sets -- that also shows why those are pricey (if they survived). This stop had six FCW stars in the set signing these posters and Paige is the biggest of them by far -- and she had only signed with WWE as an 19-year-old and made her FCW debut that January. How many of these are still around now? I have no idea ... but I've never seen another.

Jackson Holliday debuts -- get his baseball cards in these sets
It only took 10 games in the minors -- where he hit .333 with two homers and nine RBI -- to get a Holliday in Boston tonight.
No, it's not Roger Dorn Night or Big Papi Funko Pop! day (that's Sept. 9) ... it's the MLB debut of No. 1 prospect Jackson Holliday, an infielder for the Baltimore Orioles and son of a former big-leaguer.
Holliday's Rookie Cards will arrive later this year, in theory, and his Topps Now debut will inevitably arrive tomorrow no matter what, but he's already appeared on more than 2,000 different baseball cards since he was the first pick in the 2022 MLB Draft.
In fact, his certified autograph total alone is pushing 1,000 cards and that's thanks to early Perfect Game prep all-star sets, USA Baseball appearances as well as a number of prospect releases -- some from before draft day.

The biggest weekend in pro wrestling is here with WrestleMania 40 set for this Saturday and Sunday from Philadelphia. We'll make today a big one for wrestling collectors right here on The Buzz with #BuzzMania7, a marathon of WWE wax box/pack breaks all day long.
This is a variety-packed case that truly delivers that with some volume but it's also one that wasn't without some flaws at times with some card surface funk and wonky collation -- we'll see if that strikes again here -- but it's a fun one to rip if you ask me ... no matter what.

This one is a favorite of mine for sure -- especially on the retail front where everything is a parallel, insert, rarer tier or hit in these boxes -- so it just had to make today's list. And ... it's another instance where some discount-priced blaster boxes delivered pretty well. (That's actually been kind of a theme today ... that or breaking on the bargain side of things.)

This one arrived around the time of BuzzMania two years ago and was all the rage -- some justified and some absolute hype, too -- but there's no doubting that the Panini America WWE debut is a historic release. Why? It's jam-packed with color and an absolute boatload of Rookie Cards for starters ... though this format isn't perhaps as generous as others. As this break will show, though, it's worth the look ... as things can sometimes run hot.

This one was a pick-up at a slasher price back on Black Friday -- a jaw-dropper price where I absolutely had to dabble -- and yet my first impression of ripping this one back then wasn't a good one ... so I let it sit. Now, a few months later? We'll see how the results look ...
