Fast Five is a quick list under a simple topic that might offer a basic starting point for a themed collection. It's a basic list of five items that could be fun for a starting collector or a new way to add to a stash that might already seemingly include everything when it comes to cardboard. For some of you, it's probably common sense. For others of you out there, it's something to think about.

This time? Five boxes Buzz would be ripping right now ... all from the bargain section.

BACK TO SCHOOL ... RIGHT NOW
2021 Onyx Vintage Collection College Football box
These aren't actually out yet -- it's merely in pre-order mode for a November release -- but this one is Onyx's take on the new NCAA NIL rules that allow current athletes to make money on their name, image and likeness right now rather than when they are done with their college days. College football and college basketball figure to be the biggest deals on this front and this one includes a pair of autos in a box along with two other cards. Bryce Young's start has the word "Heisman" attached already and the other certified autos of his all have had pro-type dollar signs attached, not mere college award-winner prices. These boxes figure to be a bit hit and miss -- the big names will pay for a few boxes, others probably won't -- but at their present price I think they are worth the risk moreso than a lot of other releases out there. College NIL autos will have a longer shelf life than your typical draft picks cards as the booster crowd will be interested as well as the school fans -- and they won't have NFL cardboard to trump them until further down the line. I'm sure more stuff is coming but the other other one of these releases on the tarmac is a multi-sport approach. This one is solely football so that gives it the edge for me. Once Panini America's fully licensed NIL stuff starts, those will be the first-look but these are not far off.

Buzz buys and busts a lot of boxes right here for Buzz Breaks, but one of my goals is to rip a little less and talk more about cardboard that I -- and you -- might like. One way to do that? Simple show and tell -- present a few pick-ups and say why they captured my attention.

The Card: Wolverine sketch card by Skip Charron -- 2017 Upper Deck Marvel Annual Sketch Cards (1/1)
The Price: $24
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: There are a boatload of quality sketch cards out there in the world that seem seriously undervalued right now despite the fact that everything is one of a kind. This one is nice -- a color piece of an iconic character -- but these types of cards are also really the kind of item where one can't say "go grab all of these" as they are one of a kind and they can all be so different between artists and subjects. Why does this one lead off this time? To make that point -- if you can't find boxes, don't like prices on new Rated Rookies who haven't even hit your store shelves yet or just want to try something different ... then you might check out stuff you might not have at this time a year or two ago. That's what I did here.

This time? Five NFL players who impressed Buzz in Week 1.

A STAR OFF THE RADAR?
Kyler Murray -- QB, Arizona Cardinals (Rookie Cards in 2019 boxes)
He's put up big numbers in the past -- 7,982 yards and 50 TDs in his career -- but the opener was a big one as the Cardinals knocked off the Tennessee Titans 38-13 with him throwing for 289 yards and four TDs. Was that expected? Maybe, maybe not. (I didn't.) He's still pricey but my gut feeling is that other QBs from recent years might be getting a little more attention than Murray. Sure, he's pricey -- most younger QBs are -- but I think if you find some cheaper options here there is potential with a successful season. I think he's easily the top dog on his team for cardboard.

This time? Five NFL players Buzz will be watching this season.

THE GUY WHO FINISHED STRONG
Jonathan Taylor -- RB, Indianapolis Colts ... Rookie Cards in 2020 NFL releases
I'm big on the stat sheet -- what a player does on the field vs. what people think he might do -- and this guy leads off here because his final results as a rookie last year are impressive. If you look at last year's NFL rushing leaders, the king is Derrick Henry who put up the fifth-best season in NFL history with 2,027 yards (his RCs are in 2016 sets) then Dalvin Cook with 1,557 and then this rookie who had 1,169. That's a big drop to No. 3 for sure, but consider that only six other players even made to to 1,000 yards -- and one of them was a quarterback. There are QB questions for his team which might hamper his sophomore season but this time last year he wasn't really a scorcher, either. He finished strong. He had 101 yards in his second game but only had two other 100-yard games -- a 150-yarder and a crazy 253-yarder to end the season. That was tied for the ninth-best single game in NFL history. Imagine the possibilities if he's more consistent and is a go-to guy who can deliver. He had an impressive 11 TDs last year -- seven in his last four games -- so that and the yardage, to me, shows there's really good potential here. If you latch onto nicer cheaper options out there he's a safe buy to me ... though I actually collect other RBs who I didn't put on the list.

Christian Pulisic won't be changing cardboard teams any time soon.

Panini America revealed on Wednesday that it has extended its exclusive long-term deal with the soccer star for autographs and memorabilia for another five years. He's been with the company since 2016.

“We’re proud to have Christian as an exclusive member of the Panini family – it’s a special relationship that has really blossomed during the first five years,” said Panini America CEO Mark Warsop in a prepared release. “Christian has been a driving force behind our entire soccer portfolio – both domestically and internationally. This extension will see so many things taken to the next level and we can’t wait.”

Like many collectors, Buzz is a fan of grading and knows that there are many reasons that collectors choose to slab cards. Sometimes it's to enhance the appeal and protect them when selling. Other times it's to protect an investment for the long-term or to protect for sentimental reasons. Or, it might be just for fun or curiosity about a potential grade.

Here's this month's grading diary here on The Buzz ...

A COLLEGE CLASSIC
The Card: The Four Horsemen 1955 Topps All-American #68 SP -- Rookie Card
The Reason Bought: College football is back for another season, so I'll lead things off with a vintage classic. This card featuring Notre Dame quarterback Harry Stuhldreher, halfbacks Jim Crowley and Don Miller as well as fullback Elmer Layden is one that's been on my want list -- albeit very casually -- for a long time. I recently found one at a price that wasn't uncomfortable so here we are. I don't need a high-grade copy of this one -- just one that looks pretty good so I can say I have it. Besides their place in college football history, The Four Horsemen have a place in sportswriting history, too, as Grantland Rice gave them this name early on in what was a perfect 1924 season that ended with a national title. His New York Herald Tribune story started like this: "Outlined against a blue-gray October sky, the Four Horsemen rode again. In dramatic lore they are known as Famine, Pestilence, Destruction and Death. These are only aliases. Their real names are: Stuhldreher, Miller, Crowley and Layden. They formed the crest of the South Bend cyclone before which another fighting Army team was swept over the precipice at the Polo Grounds this afternoon as 55,000 spectators peered down upon the bewildering panorama spread out upon the green plain below." It's one of those pieces that's often cited when talking college football or sportswriting history and it's often emulated and it later sparked a marketing scenario -- the players would go on to pose on horses in uniform. In a lot of ways, that marketing is still replicated every Heisman season and beyond. This set is a landmark release, especially for college collectors, and this is one of a few big cards.
The Grade: BVG 2.5

Reality Check: Mine checks in low, but it's not the lowest -- there are 18 copies worse than mine and 14 others with this grade. It's very interesting to compare that total and then consider how few cards there are above a seven here.
