.The Upper Deck Gallery's latest release is not even supposed to be here today.
A pair of prints for Kevin Smith's Clerks -- the self-financed, filmed-at-night story of friends working at a convenience store filmed in a real convenience store -- is the latest creation from the company in a series of pieces featuring past films and comic book characters.
“I absolutely love this movie. I hope it shows through in the drawings,” said artist Steve Stark. “The team at Upper Deck and I tried to put in as many references as possible. It's the seed for the entire View-Askewniverse.”
The standard version of the 12-by-36 print (top) is limited to 250 copies and is $49.99. A variant of the print (above) with solely black-and-white ink appropriate for the black-and-white film is limited to only 100 copies and costs $79.99.
