Ichiro Suzuki's legendary career may be over after 27 seasons
An international baseball legend is calling it a career ... maybe.
After 27 seasons as a professional baseball player -- the last 18 in Major League Baseball -- Ichiro Suzuki is taking a front-office position with the Seattle Mariners. The 44-year-old had played in 15 games this season -- collecting nine hits -- in a return to the team he began his MLB career with back in 2001. Before that he was a star in Japan with the Orix Blue Wave for nine seasons beginning as an 18-year-old in 1992.
"With Ichiro's track record of success, his personality, his unique perspective and his work ethic, he is singularly positioned to impact both our younger players and the veterans in the clubhouse," Seattle GM Jerry Dipoto told ESPN. "We really don't want him to change anything that he's doing right now, with the exception that he will not be playing in games."
Meanwhile, Suzuki's agent says he's not retiring.
“He doesn’t plan on retiring,’’ John Boggs, his agent, told USA TODAY Sports. “He’s morphing into the role. He’ll still be traveling with the team, work out with the team every day, but he just isn’t going to be allowed to play.
“He in no way has decided to retire.’’
Mookie Betts keeps on homering, homering, homering
Move over, Ted Williams.
The last time we checked in on this young Red Sox slugger was when he had two three-homer games in one season. Now? After Wednesday's action, he's gone yard three times in the same game four times in his career and he's tied for the overall MLB lead this season with 11 ... as a lead-off hitter.
He's Mookie Betts and he now owns the team record for triple-homer games that he had shared with the Hall of Famer. According to MLB, he has 11 multi-homer games since 2016, which is tied with Manny Machado for second in MLB over that period and only Giancarlo Stanton has more with 14.
eBay Buzz Weekly Update: Topps Living Set scorchers, Deadpool art, World Series game-used, 2018 Bowman & more
Have you seen the latest crazy items on eBay? If not, you just might see some of those here every week as we're launching a weekly version of our eBay Buzz pieces that pop up from time to time. We’ll spotlight some items that have a story or just wow us with how much interest it might have — and we’re not just talking baseball cards, either.

LIVING IN AMERICA -- HUGE TOPPS LIVING SET INTEREST
The Item: 2018 Topps Living No. 6 Nick Markakis
The Price: $224.51 so far (after 22 bids) -- see what it's up to now
Why it’s Buzz-worthy: The market for 2018 Topps Living Set cards is going a little wonky for some players on eBay with the lesser-knowns and lower-volume cards from earlier weeks like this one commanding way more than you might think. Markakis sold only 2,678 copies. It shows that the interest is there from set collectors who must have it all. On the flip side, guys like Shohei Ohtani sold more than 20,000 copies and Ronald Acuna more than doubled that. Ohtani has been a steady seller for some who have opted to get theirs graded but demand for Topps Living isn't just living it's thriving right now.

Want MLB surprises this season? Just look at the HR leaders ...
We're about a month into the MLB season and all you have to do to find the surprises for this year is look at the home run leaders list.
Through last night's action, three players have hit 10 home runs and four more are right behind them at nine. One name among those top seven sluggers is a given -- Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout -- but some of the other names might surprise. The leaders? New York Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorious, Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger and Trout. Just after them? Atlanta Braves shortstop Ozzie Albies, Chicago White Sox DH Matt Davidson and a pair of past All-Stars, Colorado Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon and Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado.
Let's take a look at a few of these lesser-known players' cards.

What's Buzzing Today: Pondering 2018 Bowman Lucky, reacting to the NFL Draft, big waits and big pulls.
Nick Kingham dominates in near-perfect MLB debut
You may have a reason to go digging through some old Bowman boxes.
Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Nick Kingham did something that hasn't been done in MLB in at least the last 57 years -- he started his MLB career with nothing less than a perfect game into the seventh inning Sunday against the Cardinals.
The final line for the 26-year-old rookie? One hit, nine strikeouts and zero walks in seven innings. He retired 20 straight before giving up his hit, which is believed to be the most-dominating debut since at least 1961. The previous high was 16 batters by Kansas City's Wayne Simpson in 1970.
